The Modern UI is a rebuild of the MYOB Acumatica screens, and it is the biggest improvement to the day to day experience of the product in years. It is faster, you can rearrange your own screens without raising a request, and it becomes the default interface at the 2026R2 release, which means every site needs to be on it before upgrading to that release. The video below walks through what it actually looks like. Underneath it are the dates, the one thing that takes real planning, and six simple things to do now.
What you get for it
Three things, and only one of them is cosmetic.
Performance. Screens load and page without going back to the database every time. On a long list the difference is obvious within seconds, which is why the video shows it side by side rather than just claiming it.
Maintainability. This is the one people underestimate. In the Classic UI, moving a field, renaming a section or hiding the fields nobody uses was a customisation. You paid for it to be built, and then it had to be maintained and checked at every upgrade. In the Modern UI most of that is a setting. Every layout change that becomes a setting is a customisation you never have to build, convert or maintain again.
User experience. The full screen gets used, related fields are grouped so you can read a document at a glance, error messages stay on the form where you can read them, and the layout works properly on a tablet.
The dates to know
MYOB has given customers a transition window rather than a single cutover date.
| Release | Upgrade window | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| 2025R2 | June to September 2026 | The Modern UI becomes available. Classic and Modern run side by side, so you can start whenever suits. |
| 2026R1 | October 2026 to February 2027 | Conversion tooling for whole customisation packages arrives. This is when most transition work begins. |
| 2026R2 | May to July 2027 | The Modern UI becomes the default interface and the only one available. Every site must be on it before it can upgrade. The Modern UI also arrives for MYOB Acumatica Payroll. |
You have time, but not unlimited time, and how much you need depends on your own site.
The one that takes real planning
Everything in the video is something you or your team can do in a few seconds. This next part is not.
All customisations must be converted to keep working in the Modern UI. If a custom field has not been converted, it will not appear on the screen after you switch, and the system will start producing errors. It is not subtle, and it is not something you want to find out about on a Monday morning.
So the order of operations is conversion first, switching second. Standard screens can move much sooner, which is why most sites run a mix of the two interfaces for a while. That is normal and it is supported.
It is also why we are working through our customer base site by site rather than sending everyone an instruction and hoping.
Upgrade first, move second
One piece of advice worth taking: do not do your version upgrade and your Modern UI move at the same time.
It sounds like extra work and it is actually less. Change two things at once and if something behaves oddly afterwards you cannot tell which one caused it. Separate them and each can be checked on its own.
The sequence that works is to upgrade as normal with your customisations as they are, switch your standard screens to the Modern UI straight away so your team starts getting the benefit, then convert your customised screens afterwards at a pace that suits you.
Six simple things to do now
None of these take long, and we can help with every one.
1. Check what version you are on
The Modern UI needs version 2025.2 or later. Click Tools in the top right of MYOB Acumatica, choose About, and look at the build number.
2. Find out what has been customised
Custom screens, custom fields, anything built specially for you. This is the number that drives everything else, and most businesses cannot answer it off the top of their head.
We build the inventory for you. It is the first thing we do on every Modern UI conversation.
3. Back up your customised dashboards
Dashboards are not converted automatically, and complicated ones do not always convert cleanly, so a backup first is just sensible. Export them as XML from the Classic Dashboards screen.
We do this with you, and we know the quirks. One to watch is that conversion works from the widget list rather than what is on screen, so a widget someone hid years ago can reappear.
4. Ask your add-on providers
If you use third party products alongside MYOB Acumatica, each one needs to support the Modern UI in its own right. Worth asking early.
Tell us what you are running and we will tell you who needs chasing, and help with the conversation.
5. Try it in a test tenant
The easiest way to settle any nerves is to let a few people who know your processes have a play in a test environment. Nothing you do there touches your live system.
We set the test tenant up and help you decide what is worth testing.
6. Decide what is still worth keeping
Every customisation on your system was a good idea when it was built. Some are no longer needed, and a few could now be done without code at all, using the standard tools that have arrived since. A transition is the natural moment to ask.
We go through the list with you and say honestly which ones we would keep, retire or replace.
A note if you run MYOB Acumatica Payroll
The Modern UI arrives for MYOB Acumatica Payroll at 2026R2, a little later than it does for the ERP. If payroll is part of your site, plan the two separately rather than assuming everything moves together.
What it tends to look like by industry
The work depends on what your system has been built to do. In construction it is usually extra fields and tabs around progress claims and retentions, which tend to convert easily. In manufacturing it is more often genuinely custom production screens, which are worth leaving until last. In distribution it is frequently integrations rather than screens, so the question for your add-on providers matters most. And in professional services it is timesheet and billing screens, which are the ones most likely to have a no-code alternative now.
We will be in touch
We are working through this with every one of our customers, because no two sites are the same and the right plan depends on what is actually in yours.
If you have not heard from us about the Modern UI yet, you will. We are going through our customer base and we will be in contact to talk about your environment, what your transition looks like and when it makes sense to start.
That conversation does not cost you anything. Working out what you have, what it will take and in what order is part of looking after you. Where it does become chargeable is the work itself. Converting customisations, converting dashboards, technical assessment and implementation support sit outside standard upgrade and support arrangements, so they are quoted separately. You will have a number from us before any of it starts, and nothing is chargeable without you agreeing to it first.
If you would rather not wait, get in touch and we will bring the conversation forward.

Frequently asked questions
When do I have to move to the Modern UI?
The Modern UI becomes the default interface at the 2026R2 release, with an upgrade window of May to July 2027, and every site must be on it before it can upgrade to that release. Until then the Classic and Modern interfaces run alongside each other, so you can move at a pace that suits you.
Will it change how MYOB Acumatica works?
No. Your data, business rules, workflows and approvals are unchanged. This is about how the product looks and feels, not how it behaves.
Do I need a developer to move fields around?
No, and this is the biggest practical change. Moving fields, renaming sections, hiding fields and reordering tabs are all drag and drop. You can see it done in the video.
What happens to our customisations?
All customisations must be converted to keep working in the Modern UI. If a custom field has not been converted, it will not appear after you switch and the system will produce errors, which is why conversion comes before switching.
Should I upgrade and move to the Modern UI at the same time?
No. Do the upgrade first and the Modern UI move afterwards, as separate pieces of work. It is less risky and it makes anything unexpected far easier to pin down.
Can some screens stay on the Classic UI while we move?
Yes, until 2026R2. Most sites switch their standard screens over early and leave customised screens until those have been converted.
If I switch a screen, does it change for everyone?
Yes. Switching a form to the Modern UI switches it for every user of that form, and the system warns you before it does. Personalising your own layout is a different thing and affects only you.
What happens to our dashboards?
They are not converted automatically. There are tools to convert them, but complicated dashboards do not always come across cleanly, so back up your customised ones first and check the result properly.
How long will it take us?
It depends mostly on how many customisations you have. Sites with none can move quickly. Sites with a lot of customised screens need a proper plan and a decent run-up. We will give you a realistic picture for your site.
Will there be a cost to move to the Modern UI?
The planning conversation does not cost you anything. If your site needs customisations or dashboards converted, that work is quoted separately, because it sits outside standard upgrade and support arrangements. You will have a number before anything starts.
What should I do first?
Check your version and find out what has been customised. Those two answers tell you most of what you need to know, and we can get both for you.
